Orchard Farm School District is seeking an Assistant Director of Early Learning to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year. The Assistant Director supports the Executive Director in all aspects of early childhood, early childhood special education, parents as teachers, and before/aftercare programming to ensure high-quality educational opportunities for all children and families within the Orchard Farm School District.
The individual must exhibit strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build/maintain relationships with students, staff, and families to ensure appropriate services and programming for all students. The individual must also demonstrate the initiative, desire, and commitment to continuous improvement of all early childhood and early childhood special education programming.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists the Executive Director of Early Learning to provide the students and families of Orchard Farm School District with a high-quality educational experience.
- Assists with the management of all instructional programs, including early childhood, early childhood special education, parents as teachers, and before/aftercare programming.
- Supports the Executive Director in coaching, observing, and evaluating staff related to instructional practices, classroom management, and overall programming efficiency.
- Acts as the instructional leader of the ELC by facilitating professional learning teams and assisting the Executive Director with appropriate professional development opportunities for all staff.
- Seeks out and reviews current research related to EC/ECSE to ensure best practices and strategic planning promote the best educational programming for the district’s youngest learners.
- Assists in the development and revision of documents, including but not limited to handbooks, enrollment paperwork, teacher coaching materials, and board materials.
- Focuses on results and engages in continuous evaluation of programs and practices alongside the Executive Director to ensure quality service.
- Develops action plans to improve instructional programs and practices as needed to ensure high levels of learning for all students.
- Ensures compliance with all special education documents and practices alongside the Executive Director and ECSE Process Coordinator.
- Supports areas of behavior management and individual student needs.
- Communicates with parents regarding instruction, student progress, behavior, tuition, changes in procedures, etc.
- Assists the Executive Director in carrying out a culture of positivity, high expectations and creating leadership opportunities for all staff.
- Assists the Executive Director in all aspects of creating a budget, managing tuition, learning state/federal monies, and gathering information related to the FER.
- Assists in all enrollment, student placement, caseload requirements, and overall efficient operations of the early learning center.
- Assists the Executive Director with supervising the Parents as Teachers program, including ensuring service compliance, implementing best practices, and managing funds.
- Manages school-wide committees and supports staff in developing goals, benchmarks, and completion of tasks.
- Supervises student/parent activities and events, including district-level supervision responsibilities.
- Assists in staffing projections, appropriate hiring practices, and coaching of all staff.
- Works collaboratively and communicates with K-12 Staff, District Administration, District Transportation, and Elementary Administration to ensure all aspects of the EC/ECSE program run smoothly and efficiently.
- Assists the Executive Director in ensuring space, equipment, and materials are available for all staff to operate all programs effectively and efficiently.
- Supports the Executive Director in collecting and preparing data, information, and presentations for the Board of Education.
- Collaborates with regional early childhood, early childhood special education, and parents as teachers staff.
- Supports and models the ELC/District Mission and Vision to improve student learning outcomes and engage in positive parent interactions
- Performs duties of the Executive Director in his/her absence.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Superintendent.
Supervisory Duties
Supports the principal in supervisory responsibilities of building staff and programs
Qualifications
Master’s degree or higher in educational administration
Valid Missouri teacher certification in Early Childhood/Special Education (required)
Valid administrator certification or willingness to complete an educational administration program as determined by administration
Skills and Abilities
An individual who holds this position must have knowledge/expertise in:
Child development from birth to elementary
Early learning standards and curriculum
Early Childhood Special Education law and guidelines
Parents as Teachers Program and/or willingness to learn
Experience in early childhood education/early childhood special education preferred
Other Skills and Abilities
An individual who holds this position must have the ability to:
Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, government memos, Board Policies, administrative procedures, and statutes.
Write newsletter articles, staff memos, and ordinary business correspondence.
Keep information confidential when required by law, policy, or situations
Ability to compute ratios, percentages, and create and interpret graphs and figures
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Basic computer word processing, spreadsheets, and research skills
Ability to access and create reports using the district's student information software
