Orchard Farm School District is seeking a Paraprofessional for In-School Suspension to join our team!

The Paraprofessional works with our middle and junior high school students and staff to provide social, physical, and academic support and/or supervision to our students who may require time outside the general education classroom for various reasons. We are looking for a team member who is strong in relationship building with students and staff and can provide a structured and restorative environment for students who may be working through challenging situations. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, required
  • 60 credit hours from an accredited college/university or DESE approved 20-hour substitute certification course, required.
  • Missouri substitute certification, preferred, see how to obtain below.
  • Ability to relate to students, staff, and parents in a positive manner
  • Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form
  • Ability to follow written and oral communication 
  • Ability to use word processing and data entry systems
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs occassionaly
  • Ability to squat, bend, kneel, reach, walk, stand frequently
  • Ability to problem solve situations in a professional and logical manner
  • Ability to remain calm and patient at all times
  • Ability to motivate students for classroom achievements

An individual who holds this position is required to:

  • Assist in managing the behavior of students
  • Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students
  • Maintain confidentiality of information about children and their families in accordance with Board policy and law
  • Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings and special events when requested by administration
  • Help supervise arrival and departure of students, and provide supervision and support in multiple settings throughout the school day
  • Follow instructions from teachers and administrators

The position is in a regular school setting that is noisy and active.
