Paraprofessionals provides social, physical, and academic support and/or supervision in general and special education settings, including but not limited to, the cafeteria, classrooms, recess, and assemblies. These services may include ambulatory, eating, toileting assistance, behavior management, academic interventions/enrichment, and data collection.
Hours 8:15 AM -3:45 PM
No Nights or Weekends
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent, required
- 36-60 credit hours from an accredited college/university or DESE approved 20-hour substitute certification course, preferred.
- Missouri substitute certification, preferred, see how to obtain below.
- Two (2) years working with students/children, preferred.
- Ability to relate to students, staff, and parents in a positive manner
- Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form
- Ability to follow written and oral communication
- Ability to use word processing and data entry systems
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs occasionally
- Ability to squat, bend, kneel, reach, walk, stand frequently
- Ability to problem solve situations in a professional and logical manner
- Ability to remain calm and patient at all times
- Ability to motivate students for classroom achievements

An individual who holds this position is required to:
- Assist students with disabilities according to their individualized needs, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, or positioning
- Assist students with physical care including feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene
- Assist in managing the behavior of students
- Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students
- Maintain confidentiality of information about children and their families in accordance with Board policy and law
- Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings and special events when requested by administration
- Help supervise arrival and departure of students, and provide supervision and support in multiple settings throughout the school day
- Follow instructions from teachers and administrators
The position is in a regular school setting that is noisy and active. Occassional outdoor activities are required such as loading and unloading students from district transportation and supervising recess.
