Description

The Orchard Farm School District is seeking an outstanding educator to join our team for the position of English Language Learner Teacher in the 2024-2025 school year.  This is a shared position between our 2 Elementary buildings (Orchard Farm Elementary and Discovery.)

 

Our mission is to empower each learner to excel in diverse communities. Teachers are responsible for providing direct instruction to students and maintaining an environment conducive to learning.

 

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE: 

Under the general supervision of the school principal(s)and the ELL Teacher, facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc. This position may involve travel to more than one site and working collaboratively with the secondary ELL Teacher. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Identify English language learner (ELL) students using district criteria.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate instructional programming to meet the needs of ELL students.
  • Collaborate with the ELL team on programming, data analysis, and instructional planning.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues by modeling instructional strategies, identifying and developing instructional resources, and providing professional development related to the needs of ELL students.
  • Communicate effectively with students, administrators, parents, school staff, and members of the school community.
  • Fulfill Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) compliance requirements related to this position
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods based on individual student needs.
  • Maintain appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
  • Keeps accurate and complete records regarding achievement, and attendance as required by the district/building procedures/policies.
  • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and their parents/guardians.
  • Coordinates with other staff members, participates in faculty meetings, and attends professional development.
  • Selects and utilizes appropriate learning materials/instructional tools consistent with district curriculum.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the principal(s).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Missouri English for Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) K-12 Certification.
  • Knowledge of current English language development teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and concepts.
  • Ability to use learning software applications as needed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and their parents/guardians.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Experience working with diverse learners and supporting culturally responsive practices preferred.
  • Experience working with students from a variety of cultural, racial, socioeconomic and linguistic backgrounds as well as students from a variety of family structures preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
  • Fluency in a language other than English is preferred, but not required

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
